Sprinkler installed in a ceiling.
Sprinkler pipes are installed permanently and are difficult to reposition. The sprinkler heads must be sited in accordance with stringent fire safety standards. It is important to plan the sprinkler layout at the same time as the suspended ceiling layout. However, subsequent adjustments are possible. Sprinkler heads are often fitted after the grid system has been installed, to ensure that they are positioned correctly relative to the tiles.
When it has been activated, a sprinkler nozzle must be at a specific level relative to the ceiling surface. When setting the height, remember that different models of sprinklers are available.
For information about cutting holes in the ceiling tiles, see "6 Power and data".
