Think of how we stuff people into buildings
If the users of a building are subjected to a poor sound environment, this can have a negative impact on their health and performance. The users may be teachers, students, other school staff, patients, healthcare professionals, industrial workers, office staff etc. If they are not happy with their sound environment, they may demand some positive interventions.
The resources required will vary, depending on what is causing the disturbance and needs rectifying. It is therefore vital to create as good a sound environment as possible right from the outset. Actively integrating sound and acoustics into the building project from the start minimises the risk that sound will cause disturbances and that major, costly interventions will be required at a later stage.
